Treatment Course and Prognosis
■
Acute stage
(duration approximately 2–4 weeks): the course of the disease can be
shortened, especially with hepatitis A; for hepatitis B acupuncture reduces the risk of
chronicity
■
Chronic stage
(hepatitis B and C):
– development of cirrhosis of the liver can be slowed down
– general malaise (fatigue, weakness) generally disappears
