Eight Extraordinary Vessels
The dissemination of
Jing
Essence to the various
Zang-
Fu
is not quite even. The body disseminates to the
organs according to the pre-programmed constitution,
that is, the inherited constitutional energies. For ex-
ample aWood type constitution, receives more energy
at BL-18
Ganshu
and BL-19
Danshu.
Furthermore the transformation and distribution of
the original
Yuan
Source Qi from the area of the lower
Dan Tian
, via the
DuMai
to the Bladder channel’s back
Shu
Transport points and to the various
Zang-Fu
,
is reflected on the
Yuan
Source points of the cor-
responding Primary channels, hence their name. In
fact, when stimulated, the
Yuan
Source points direct
the produced Qi in the Triple warmer towards the
corresponding organ and channel system.
According to chapter 71 of the Lingshu, the
Zong
Ancestral Qi accumulates in the centre of the
chest, at RM-17 S
hanzhong,
It expresses through the
throat the larynx and it links to the Heart and di-
rectly to the eyes. Hence the liveliness andmotivations,
which are attributes of
Jing
, are conveyed through the
sparkle in the eyes.
Life cycles: the agingprocess
The Kidneys mature
according to a pre-defined rhythm of seven years for
women and eight years for men according to the
Suwen and cycles of ten according to the Lingshu
.
The cycles of seven and eight should not be taken as
absolute but rather as references. What we see today in
the modern world is an acceleration of the maturing
process in children as well as a delayed aging due to
lifestyle, medical progress and hormone replacement
treatments.
The classical aging process for
women
is described in
the Suwen
,
chapter 1, referring to the unfolding of
Jing
according to defined cycles of seven years:
